In 2025, Kazakhstan celebrates two important dates: the 100th anniversary of the birth of Academician Evney Arstanovich Buketov and the 50th anniversary of the publication of Olzhas Suleimenov’s book “Az i Ya”. The study of this topic allows us to identify the connection between two outstanding figures of Kazakhstani science and culture. The main goal of the research is to introduce into scientific circulation the first published letter from E.A. Buketov to O.O. Suleimenov dated February 16, 1976. The article examines the circumstanc es of writing the letter, its content and historical significance in the context of the discussion around the book “Az i Ya”. The authors analyze the multifaceted nature of E.A. Buketov’s scientific and literary heritage, his contribution to the development of chemical-metallurgical science and higher education in Kazakhstan. The significance of the academician’s correspondence with representatives of scientific and creative intelligentsia is determined.
