Аbout the ancient Turkic tribes who adopted Christianity

Abstract

The article reviews the historical features of the process of adoption of Christianity by the ancient Turkic tribes. In particular, it was determined that the spread of Christianity in Central Asia took place before the fourth century. Contacts of the Turks with the representatives of the Christian faith happened prevalently through the Eastern church. The Orthodox church was the most popular.Nestorianism’s presencewas strong as well. The Turks’ first encounter with Christianity happened within Parthia (250–224 BC). Since the Parthian Christianity was close to accepting the revelation of Christ, it was rejected by representatives of the Western church. After the death of Saint Jesus Christ, especially since the 70s, the Parthian state began accepting Christian Nasrani tribes expelled from Rome and began to patronize them. This was the reason for the rapid spread of Christianity among the Turks.
